Foods that weaken the Immune System

We know that there are foods that are healthy for you, and there are also foods that are unhealthy for you. When you think of healthy and unhealthy foods, what comes to mind? The majority of you would probably be thinking of body fat levels, cholesterol, heart health, or something of that nature. We know that the right food choices will help increase our health. Were you aware that the wrong choices will not only jeopardize our health but could also weaken our immune system as well?


Let’s start out with the morning time. It’s important not to eat a breakfast high in fat. Why you ask? Your body is very vulnerable in the morning to being infected by germs and bacteria. It’s important that you get your body properly functioning in the morning to prevent these germs and bacteria from weakening your immune system. If you have a lot of fat in your first meal, your body is going to be focusing more on disposing of the excess fat and put less emphasis on killing germs and bacteria.


Next, it’s important to avoid foods that are high in sugar. Sugar is capable of weakening your immune system just ten minutes after it’s consumed. Remember, not all sugary items are food. You also must be aware of the many drinks that are high in sugar.


Now, let’s fast forward to night time. What is one of the most important factors when it comes to a healthy immune system? Sleep!!! So, what foods should you be avoiding at night to keep your immune system strong? Any foods that will keep you up at night and prevent you from getting a good night sleep! Caffeine, sugar, and alcohol are just a few examples of what you should be avoiding at night if you want to keep your immune system strong.


As you can see from the previous paragraphs, it’s not always the food choices that affect your immune system, but it can also be the time of day you consume these foods. If you find yourself getting sick frequently, give a few of these tips a try and see if these sick days become less frequent.
