Healthy Restaurants

Sitting in traffic today all I could think about was food. This thought was not much of a surprise since I did only have one sandwich in a 9 hour work day. Just alone on the highway, I passed about 3 or 4 fast food restaurants. From Outback, to McDonald’s, to Wendy’s, I could easily imagine myself munching down on half their menu. As I continued to drive, I started to think about surprisingly healthy fast food restaurants and their foods. Take a look at the list!

Corner bakery café

Not always located on the corner yet always in clear view for a health conscious consumer. Known for their outstanding breakfast, ranging from their Swiss oatmeal and farmer’s scrambler, all the way to their fresh lean meats that would make any stop at the café worth your time. This bakery chain is limited across the nation, yet there are a number in the area.

Panera Bread

Recommended by dieticians, preferred by many, Panera bread easily makes the list. Having a choice of many healthy breads and the addition of an apple with every meal helps propel the consumers eating habits in the right direction. Oh yeah, did I mention that most of the chicken is hormone free which is un-heard of in the restaurant industry?!!

Chipotle

Who can say no to a buffet? Well at chipotle they leave it in your hands to many the right choice. The question is…how can you make the wrong choices when you have so many right choices in front of you? Chipotle provides fresh ingredients that come from your local farms which is far from normal in the fast food industry.

McDonalds

If you are surprised that McDonald’s is on the list….well so am I. When I think of McDonalds, all I can think about are the quarter pounders with cheese, double bacon burgers, and hotcakes with sausage and syrup. Well, that is still McDonalds with the addition of healthier choices such as happy meals with milk instead of sprite or Pepsi or the grilled chicken classic instead of the bacon burger. McDonalds is finally making a conscious decision to change their greasy motto.

There you have it! I hope this gave you a better understanding that there are some good healthy choices in the fast food industry.
